The course was designed by Orlando resident Carl Dann Sr. in the early 1920s and opened to the public in 1924. The name allegedly comes from Dann’s hopes to instill fear in beginner golfers who were called “dubs” at the time. It was purchased by the City of Orlando in 1978 and redesigned in 2008.
